Witchy but busy? Magickal but tired? Here’s how to throw together a simple Elemental Altar that actually fits into your chaotic or cozy life.
Before you start adding/creating your Altar, you need to decide on a space to place it, to give you the energy and ease of access you want from it.
Start up steps..
Choose your space.
Cleanse you area
Invite in your higher self
Decorate that baby!
Ground and Repeat
Finding things that represent the Elements.
1. Earth – Stability, grounding, growth
Grab: a rock, plant, salt, or even a house key
Place it in the North of your altar space (or wherever feels right).
No fancy crystal garden needed—your potted succulent counts!
2. Air – Thoughts, clarity, communication
Grab: incense, feather, pen, or a tiny notebook
Place in the East.
Even an empty tea bag or pencil works. Air is all about the mind, so go light.
3. Fire – Passion, action, transformation
Grab: a candle (tea light is fine), matchstick, or chili pepper
Place in the South.
You don’t have to light it—just honor that fiery energy.
4. Water – Emotion, intuition, flow
Grab: a cup of water, seashell, perfume, or even a tea bag
Place in the West.
Got a mug of tea nearby? Boom—Water element.
5. Spirit (optional but powerful)
Grab: something personal—ring, photo, charm, or just your intention
Place in the centre to tie it all together.
Even just you standing there is enough. Spirit = you, always.
Done in 5 minutes. No stress. No judgment. Witchcraft is yours to shape.
Now go light that tea candle and channel your chaotic divine self.
You’re a witch. You got this.
Janine xoxo
